I remember they didn't know me yet and they got me a warm, cute, pink coat. That was nice and they don't even know me! They gave me orange juice with bubbles and yummy Christmas food. They gave me dolls that were black like me. They told me I was beautiful and I had cool hair. They helped make it ok to be black.
Everyone at Christmas gave me books because Mom was going to teach me to read. I still have all the books and I can read now too.
